Vascular Access and Infusion Therapy Evidenced-Based Resources
Northeast Louisiana Vascular Access Network
Northeast Louisiana Vascular Access Network

Our mission is to provide an environment that fosters learning, growth, and personal development in the field of vascular access and infusion therapy.
Our aim is to reach all disciplines involved with the insertion, care and maintenance of peripheral and central vascular access devices (the life-cycle of the line).

NELAVAN was founded in 2025 by April Winborne, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, IVTMC, CPUI, CCRN, CRNI, CVAA(c), VA-BC.
Our goal is to provide the healthcare landscape with up-to-date information and resources regarding the rapid growing specialties of vascular access and infusion therapy.

Our partnership with the Association for Vascular Access is aimed to provide the latest evidenced-based practice to all disciplines in Louisiana.
Our purpose was to establish the first, but not last, AVA Network in Louisiana that is committed to preserving the vascular health and wellbeing of our patients through education and collaboration.

iSaveThat Podcast - Season 4, Episode 9: End Stage Renal Disease: Population Health and Clinical Practice Implications. Thank you to Medtronic for sponsoring this episode!
Are there two standards? Our physician partners are the top of the food chain in medicine. We look up to them and respect their knowledge. Conversely, we scratch our heads at their practice in vascular access! Why are they blindly poking groins? Why are they still suturing lines? Why are they still placing blind? What about those ugly IJ’s inserted high in the neck whose extension tubing is like a hair accessory?
